Supporting charities, non-profits, Indigenous organizations, community groups, and grassroots initiatives is particularly important to me. My goal is to provide accessible, high-quality services that help organizations secure funding, strengthen programs, engage communities, and create meaningful, lasting impact.

The Fur-Bearers

Working closely with Fur-Bearers and Trent University, I co-developed Canada’s first national survey on wolf-related knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes. I translated survey findings into actionable recommendations to strengthen advocacy strategies and guide decision-making. You can find more information here: Canadian Wolf Survey.

As a science communicator for Fur-Bearers, I translate peer-reviewed research into clear, accessible blog content that informs advocacy, engages stakeholders, and supports evidence-based decision-making. You can read my blogs here.

Humane Canada

As a subject matter expert, I provided strategic guidance for the development of learning modules for the ACT (Awareness, Collaboration, Tools) Project, which supports women with animals experiencing gender-based violence. I developed the content for the following educational modules: Supporting Rural, Remote, Northern & Farming Communities; Awareness, Engagement & Confidentiality, and Self-Care, Compassion Fatigue & Setting Boundaries, ensuring content was practical, evidence-informed, and responsive to community needs.

Reconciliation in Animal Welfare Symposium

Collaborating with animal welfare colleagues, we organized Canada’s first ever Symposium focused on reconciliation in the animal welfare sector. Over 130 participants learned from Indigenous speakers and scholars about the importance of relationship-building and historical and present-day colonial practices that impact Indigenous Peoples in Canada, and why these are important considerations in the animal welfare sector.

  • “Valli's work with us on our national survey about wolves was invaluable. Her critical insights, research, and analysis throughout the project were instrumental in its success and helped elevate our advocacy around canid coexistence. Valli is a clear communicator and always punctual; she has been wonderful to work with from project conceptualization to completion.”
